The early life of Angela Lansbury
Angela Lansbury was born on October 16, 1925, in London; her mother, Irish-born actress Moyna Macgill, had roles in more than two dozen English and American motion pictures. Bruce and Edgar, her younger twin brothers, worked as producers in both cinema and television. She was a devoted moviegoer who started taking acting and singing lessons in her teens.
The long-running CBS TV series in which Lansbury played Jessica Fletcher is her most well-known work. Even though Lansbury was known in theatre and film, television was where she found the most success. On CBS’ “Murder, She Wrote,” Jessica Fletcher, a flinty crime-solving mystery author, was one of the characters she filled in for Jean Stapleton in 1984.
