Only God can tell which direction the wheel of fortune turns. On September 11, 2011, Bruce Boudreau, the former head coach of the Washington Capitals, was originally supposed to take United Airlines Flight 175 from Boston Logan Airport to Los Angeles. But fate did not let that happen.

How Fate Saved Bruce Boudreau from 9/11 Attacks?
Bruce Boudreau had intended to go to Los Angeles in time for the Los Angeles Kings’ training camp. At the time, he was the head coach of the Manchester Monarchs, an AHL team that was a part of the Los Angeles Kings. Andy Murray, the King’s head coach at the time, had other plans. Bruce Boudreau and Bobby Jay, his Manchester-based assistants, were to arrive a day early, per Murray’s request, as the organization’s coaches were to have dinner and a pre-camp meeting that evening.
Dave Taylor, the general manager of the Kings, heard Murray urging his coaches to arrive a day early. So, a week before the flight, John Wolf, Taylor’s assistant, got in touch with Boudreau to let him know that the flight’s plans had changed. Although Boudreau had no issue arriving a day early, he didn’t believe the adjustment would save his life.
Bruce Boudreau was saved by Andy Murray. He thinks about it every year when it comes around. He will watch the film Flight 93 repeatedly as it is about to start. He is a lucky guy and it has been a crazy, crazy time. Bruce Boudreau added.
Two additional Kings employees, scout Mark Bavis and scouting director Garnett Bailey, a former Washington Capitals player, were on the flight from Boston on Tuesday. They passed away.
How did Bruce Boudreau’s Family React to 9/11 Attacks?
On the Tuesday morning of 9/11, Bruce Boudreau’s wife, Crystal, called him and urged him to turn on the TV as a tragedy unfolded. Running down the corridor, Boudreau knocked on Bobby Jay’s door, the assistant coach. Ace Bailey and Mark Bavis were on one of the hijacked flights, they realised after they both went to the rink to see what was happening.
Family and friends called in fear, wondering if Boudreau was on Flight 175; however, Crystal informed them that he was safe. His kids were frightened even though they knew Boudreau had changed flights.
